Preparation matters more than model choice. Get these four things right and installation day is uneventful.
1. The base
A filled spa can weigh several thousand pounds. A level 4-inch reinforced concrete pad is the standard answer; a deck needs an engineer’s or builder’s confirmation that it carries the filled weight.
2. Power
Most electric spas need a dedicated 240V GFCI-protected circuit installed by a licensed electrician to local code. Plug-and-play 110V and wood-fired models avoid this entirely.
3. Access and delivery
- Delivery is curbside: the freight carrier calls to book an appointment and unloads at the end of your driveway on a lift-gate truck.
- Measure gates, side paths and corners before ordering, and arrange help or a spa mover to get the unit into position.
- Delivery is a flat $200 per order to the 48 contiguous U.S. states. Inspect the spa and note any damage on the delivery receipt before signing.
4. Water care from day one
Have test strips, sanitiser and a filter cleaner ready before the spa is filled. Balanced water on day one saves a lot of work later.
